The Cliffside Inn has been named one of the Great Tea Rooms of America by tea authority Bruce Richardson in his new book "The Great Tea Rooms of America." Of the 20 tea rooms featured in America, Cliffside Inn is the only one the public is NOT invited to. Only guests can enjoy this tea service, a Duchess of Bedford Tea as it was served in Victorian Newport at the turn of the century.
Cliffside is the only tea room chosen in all of Rhode Island and there are only two in New England. Other tea rooms selected for the book include the St. Regis Hotel and Waldorf Astoria in New York; the Drake Hotel in Chicago; the Brown Palace in Denver and Fairmont Emperess in British Columbia.
The Legendary Newport Tea Service features a monthly season menu of tea sandwiches, scones and Devonshire cream, fruit tart, pastries and other sweets and savories. Plus the Legendary Newport Tea, a custom tea blended for the Cliffside Inn.
