Introduction

The Haddie Pierce House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a turn of the century Victorian located in the historic New England fishing village of Wickford, Rhode Island. The three story home, complete with widows walk, is a few minutes walk to the beach on Narragansett Bay, or the shops and boutiques of the village. A short drive will bring you to Newport, Narragansett, or the Block Island Ferry.

The early 20th Century brought the summer tourist to Wickford. They came by carriage, train, trolley and finally auto, to enjoy the historical ambiance and natural beauty of the seaside town. The Seaview Railroad, bringing visitors from East Greenwich and Providence along with the steamer that sailed to Newport, helped Wickford develop its reputation as a summer resort.

In 1906 Haddie and Christopher Pierce built their three story home on a busy corner of the village. The Seaview trolley passed by in front of the house. The steam ship dock was a short walk away. While the train and ship have long passed into history, the Haddie Pierce House has retained its Victorian charm and elegance.

Guest accommodations include restored rooms, all with private bath. All are light and airy with comfort and cleanliness a priority. The double parlor with its parquet floors, antiques and period furnishings, provide a welcome respite for any traveler. A hearty breakfast is served each morning and tea is always available for sipping on the front porch.
