Situated in the center of the South Cumberland Recreation Area and known for its spectacular bluff lined canyons, there are 85 miles of hiking trails through the virgin forests here. Ron Van Dyke, the owner of Fern Falls, has his art studio on the property and has won several awards for his creations. His whimsical metal birds and animals decorate the landscape around the house.

Sites to See: Fall Creek Falls State Park is an hour north with one of the highest waterfalls in the east at 236 ft. Jack Daniels Distillery is an hour west with a free tour of the distillery and a town square of antique and gift shops. Chickamauga National Military Park is near Chattanooga, with one of the largest Civil War battlefields and a museum.

The bedrooms are decorated with the native flowers of Tennessee. The "Iris" room is on the ground floor and has a gas log fireplace. On the second floor is the "Lady Slipper" room with a spectacular view of the canyon. The rooms are furnished with interesting antiques, queen beds and private baths. Breakfast of choice, with home- grown eggs and seasonal fruits. Rooms are $125 for single nights or, the best deal, $100 per night for multiple nights.
